Process Questions:

1. How do you describe the elements of communication?

The elements of communication is similar to your body.  Our body is composed of different systems that work together to function as a whole. It is following a certain process. If one system has a problem, it will affect on how you feel and how you perform. The elements of communication is similar to that. If one element encounters a problem it may affect your interpretation of the message. Think of it as one element of communication is one body system. 

2. Can the process of communication be completed even without the presence of a single element of communication? Why or why not?

It actually depends on what element is missing. Communication can still happen even without the presence of barriers. Barriers aren’t always present in the process of communication. It is like an extraneous variable that you can’t control but if it the other elements, miscommunication can happen. If the there is no speaker, who will initiate and start the conversation? If there is no message, what is there to talk about? If there is no receiver then that is not communication since it is a two way process. There is still primary elements that is needed for communication. If one of the said elements is not present, there wouldn’t have been a communication in the first place. Overall, communication would fail if one elements is not present other than barriers.

3. Cite at least one communication situation and identify the elements in the presented situation.

Sykunno is video-calling her friend Rae. Rae is teaching Sykunno how to talk to girls. At first, Rae taught him through the pretend game. “Act like I’m the girl that you want to talk to” but Syk said he is too shy to even act. So Rae taught of another way to teach him but suddenly Syk’s Wi-Fi isn’t working well so she couldn’t hear nor see what Rae was doing. The call got cut seconds after.

The speaker in the scenario is Rae. Sykunno is the receiver. The communication takes place virtually because they are video-calling. The message or the topic is how to talk to girls. The channel is speaking with body language. Sykunno’s feedback was when he told Rae that he is shy. A barrier was also present and it is the sudden lost of connection resulting to Sykunno not hearing what Rae said or what you call miscommunication.
